Cannabidiol: Clinical & Legal Considerations

Cannabidiol offers an interesting mix of pharmacological effects on various receptors expressing physiologic changes on multiple body systems, including metabolism of other medications. The goal is this presentation provide clinical clarity, as well as delve into the FDA and DEA positions on the molecule and understand the scope of the Farm Bill.

Learning Objectives:
1. Describe key features of the endocannabinoid system, cannabis pharmacology, side effects and drug interactions
2. Discuss considerations for possible medical applications of cannabidiol, including FDA approved Epidiolex
3. Apply information on the federal status of cannabis and cannabis extracts as a controlled substance, “the Farm Bill” and be able to interpret different state policies on cannabis.
