Dr. Gill, PharmD, BCPS will conduct a knowledge-based continuing education webinar program on chronic kidney disease in children. The webinar will review the management of chronic kidney disease sequelae in children and adolescents and the current guidelines for managing anemia, bone mineral disease, and blood pressure. Dr. Gill will also discuss the emerging and controversial topics in CKD such as use of Cystatin C for GFR measurement and differences in managing vitamin D in CKD patients.
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
1. Review evidence in managing hyperphosphatemia, hyperparathyroidism & new agents among phosphate binders.
2. Evaluate new therapeutic options for hyperkalemia. Review the evidence behind the association of PPI use and CKD risk.
3. Explore the use of Cystatin C in regards to GFR measurement in comparison to serum creatinine.
4. Discuss the controversies in vitamin D testing and management in CKD.
PPAG has accredited this knowledge-based webinar for 1.0 contact hours (0.10 CEUs) of continuing education credit for pharmacists. PPAG is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. UAN #0180-0000-17-007-H01-P.
